SUMMER 2008 ROADTRIP

So it is that time of year, we are making our annual trip to visit friends and family. First stop, my sister's in Colorado. We got to just hang out and visit. Aunt E had a couple of special projects for the kids, one of which was making homemade marshmallows. Well, Shannon and I got involved in this and had marshmallows strung everywhere. They were alot of work, but they were very tasty. The other highlight was getting to Shannon's first fitting of her wedding dress. I gotta admit, I teared up a little, she looked beautiful and we can't wait to see her on her special day.

We left Colorado for Utah. We were so excited because not only were we going to be able to visit with Grandma and Papa Horsley, but we were going to be able to do it up at the cabin. The only draw back, we didn't pack alot of warm clothes --- who would of thought that it would hail in July, but it did. Luckily it warmed up a little for the rest of the trip, but no swimming in the lake this year. We did enjoy riding the ATV though. Amanda, Annie and Matthew proved that they were old enough to drive it on there own, and Mikey was actually allowed to stear by himself (of course one of us was always sitting with him). We also made smores with the homemade marshmallows that we made at Aunt E's, I was shocked to hear Grandma say that was her first smore ever. We were also happily surprised to find that they had built and IN-n-Out in St George since last year. You better believe that was the first stop we made, ok second --- we did stop at Grandma and Papa's first.

We left Utah and headed towards CA. Couldn't resist passing through Vegas. So we met up with Grandma and Papa May and spent two days in Vegas playing at the Orleans. We also went to John-o's for a day and swam with him and Betty.

Mike was able to make a business trip to CA and join us in Vegas for one night. We then made the journey to Bear Valley where we met up with friends at our favorite restaurant, Las Palmas. The next day we had a picnic at Cub Lake with our friends, oh how we miss days like those!!! We spent a couple of days visiting and trying not to blink, fearful that we would miss some time that could be used visiting!!!

A VISIT FROM THE SEVERSONS
The Seversons visited with us at my parents. We swam alot and spent the day at the beach. Alisha and I even got to sneak out for a couple hours and do our favorite thing --- shop at Target with a Starbucks and no kids!!!

We were lucky to get to visit with the Flanagins and the Jackolas. It was a fun night of swimming and catching up, the kids played like they had just seen each other last week, so nice to see.

FAITH BAPTIST CLASS OF 1988
How can it be??? Mike and I went to our 20th high school reunion. We graduated in a small class, so the reunion was small, but we had alot of fun catching up with friends that we haven't seen in years and talking about the "good old days"!!!

ANNUAL DODGER GAME

MAGIC MOUNTAIN
Michael got his first taste of a real rollercoaster, and he loved it. Grandpa, Matthew and Mikey had to ride Viper over and over again.

The LaMonte's joined us at my parents. We had alot of fun hanging out and swimming. We also went to the beach and met up with the Peases, then went out to dinner in celebration of Sean's b'day.

EDITH AND THE GIRLS ARRIVE

Edith, Alex and Kellie joined in the fun at Grandma and Grandpa's. We were all so happy to be together, we even managed to pull off the surprise to Aunt Wannie. We had a fun week. We went to the Zuma, Universal studios, a public trasportation tour of L.A. (which included the aftermath of a gang shooting), and lots of swimming. It was awesome having us all there even if it was for only a few days.

It wouldn't be a summer without grandpa getting in trouble at least once with the lifeguards. Once again, I was happily there to catch it on camera!

UNIVERSAL STUDIOS
Oh what fun we had!

We went to see Fear Factor, an attraction at the park. As we were walking in, I was asked if I would like to get my entire party into the air conditioning without waiting in line. To do so, all I would have to do is be part of the preshow. OK. So we get inside and all of a sudden I start getting very nervous as to not only what I might have to do, but that I will be standing in front of a couple hundred people on stage, YIKES. I said to my nieces that the only thing I would really be grossed out holding is a cockroach. Well, much to my dismay, and my families delight, I had not only hold one but two hissing Madagascar cockroaches!!!

BACK IN THE CAR

Edith, Kellie, Alex, Amanda, Annie, Matthew, Michael, myself and all of our luggage squished into my van and made the trip to Colorado. We stopped in Vegas over night, agagin squishing into one hotel room and loaded back into the car for the rest of the journey. It was actually a really fun part of the roadtrip and we were extra excited to spend more time with Edith and the girls. I also have to say, it was nice to have some help with the drive.

Shannon's wedding shower

The day after Shannon's shower we made the long trek home. It was nice to be going home, but at the same time we had so much fun, it was hard too. We loved visiting all of you, see you next year!!!

While in Denver, I was able to have a night out with my nieces. We went to the local Honky Tonk and attempted some line dances. Thanks for the fun girls (Thanks to Eric and John too)!!!
